This May Millard is asking voters for approval of a bond to address district building repairs and maintenance. The $125 million dollar bond would add and estimated one cent to the current tax levy. This would be approximately twenty additional dollars per year on a two-hundred thousand dollar home.
Millard Public Schools has thirty-eight buildings, thirty-five schools and three support buildings. All together, the district maintains 3.6 million square feet of indoor space. The average age of the district's buildings is thirty-eight years old.
The scope of the work would include safety and security, major renovations, capital equipment replacements, energy efficiency projects, maintenance projects and future replacement.
Millard provides neighborhood schools for more than twenty-four thousand students. Nearly three thousand teachers and staff work in the district. As a district of choice, families may also select from programs including Montessori, International Baccalaureate, Core Academy, Early College, and Millard Career Academies including Health, Business and Logistics, Business and Entrepreneurship, and Education. Several additional academy opportunities are available through community partnerships.
